Amy Dillon Cody, MSW, LISW
There are times in our lives where we feel stuck in a place where we cannot reach our personal goals. We may have difficulty moving forward because of difficult feelings, disruptive thoughts or the inability to find our own internal power.
I believe therapy is an opportunity to intentionally work through these moments in our lives and receive the support we need to come to our own conclusions. As a therapist I am honored to listen deeply while empowering you to find strength, acceptance and the ability to heal. I approach every individual with non-judgement, utilizing a person centered and strengths based approach. My clients increase their self-awareness and learn to practice new strategies for coping with whatever they bring to therapy.
I have experience working with adults with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, trauma, grief, chronic illness and acute stress. I have specialized experience working with people/mothers who have experienced complicated pregnancies, birth trauma, post-partum mood disorders and loss.
I hold both a Bachelors and Masters of Social Work from The University of Akron and am a Licensed Independent Social Worker. In my therapeutic practice I incorporate evidence based interventions which include Trauma-Informed therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Cultural competency is especially important to me; I am LGBTQ+ affirming and anti-racist.
